Gloucester is a cathedral city, non-metropolitan district and the county town of Gloucestershire in South West England. Gloucester lies on the River Severn, between the Cotswolds to the east and the Forest of Dean to the west; it is sited 7 miles (12Â km) from Cheltenham, 19 miles (31Â km) from Monmouth, 33 miles (53Â km) from Bristol, and 17 miles (27Â km) east of the border with Wales.
